I’ve heard of macarons in comic books and animes, and of course recipe books, but never really tried them and had been dying to since the first time I saw it. I haven’t tried one until my friend’s birthday dinner. Loved it immediately after the first bite! The top and bottom layers have a fragile crunchiness, just like an egg shell. When you get into the filling, it is soft, almost like a meringue texture. You can also get a hint of the nutty taste.
However, this macaron is quite alien to many people; some confused it with macaroon (coconut meringue-like cookie). Macaron is a French confectionary made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food coloring. Yup! Sugar sugar and more sugar…. So you can imagine how sweet it is. Hello cavities!
I got my macarons from this dining cafe called Bakerzin. It came in a fancy pink box. Quite pricey I must say. One piece of macaron costs Rp 7,500 (approx. $0.83).What else to can you do with your cravings other than satisfy them?
